16 Apr Peel’s educational support workers protest Ford government’s ‘radical cuts’ to education
Educational support workers from the Peel District School Board and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, gathered outside Mississauga-Erin Mills MPP Sheref Sabawy’s constituency office on Friday (April 12) to protest Premier Doug Ford’s proposed cuts to public education in Ontario.
Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 292 joined Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) District 19 members in the protest.
OPSEU Local 292 represents all IT and media support staff with the Peel board. Members protested the government’s many proposed changes, including increasing the amount of students per classroom, the introduction of mandatory online courses and cuts to support for students with autism.
